DRC has the second largest intact block of rainforest in the world. It covers more than half of the remaining rainforest in the Congo Basin. As one of the least developed countries in the world, economic development is a top priority and the country’s forests are under increasing threat. DRC’s loses almost half a million hectares of forest each year, putting it in the top ten worldwide in terms area lost.
